A Hundred Thousand Welcomes

Cead a Mile Failthe.  Gaelic for A Hundred Thousand Welcomes. (pronounciation for sassenachs: a kade a meely falcha)

So - Cead a Mile Failthe to our website.  Let us tell you a little about ourselves.

Our core business is the maintenance and repair of PC's and Laptops, which because of our geographical location, is concentrated on servicing businesses and individuals who live and work in Caithness and Sutherland, although we do operate a remote service for those living further afield, (see Remote Services) particularly those who suffer from high prices and poor service from their local or national repair outlets.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the geography of Great Britain, we are located on the extreme North Coast of Scotland, close to the most northerly point of the British mainland at Dunnet Head, on the edge of the Pentland Firth, looking out towards the Orkney Isles.  For a physical map of the area, please click here .  (And to answer your most frequently asked question, yes, John O' Groats is in Caithness, but no, it is not the most northerly point)

The County of Caithness has a population of less than 30,000, and the area of Sutherland in which we operate, being the most rugged and sparsely populated in the UK, has even less.  This makes our operation totally different from that which you would expect to find in a medium sized town or city elsewhere in the country.

We therefore do not operate a normal retail outlet, but instead have a chain of agents scattered around the various villages, plus of course our own local post office in Castletown, who give over some window/shelf space to showing items of immediate need spares, such as keyboards, mice, cables, etc.  A full list of these agents is given in Contact Us.

If you are planning a visit or holiday in this area, these contacts are also useful for people wishing to arrange accomodation, buy guide books, etc., and they would be pleased to hear from you.

Please mention Computafix when calling them.

For photographs of this wild and beautiful countryside in which we operate, may we recommend a visit to Caithness.org, or if your interests are more maritime, Tugmistress.co.uk., where you will have access to a wide range of photographs and postcards.
